      Executive Assistant to CEO Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics (Conshohocken, PA) in Mar 2023

      Interview

Virtual interview with HR. I did extensive research on the company and was more than prepared to have a meaningful dialogue. They joined not having my resume available. She took valuable time away at beginning to find my resume rather than being prepared and present. Visibly sick - should have been off camera, taken the day off (culture probably doesn’t allow for this), or reschedule. Every question was around simply checking off boxes of hard skills. Seeking very traditional EA that isn’t given autonomy to problem solve, critically think, or offer alternative solutions towards increased efficiency. After answering every question with detailed scenario, task, action, and results - HR interviewer replied with “What do you mean by that?” Zero understanding what a modern EA does. They showed no emotion. Never looked happy in their role and were suspicious of my advanced degrees - mentioning at the very end why I had this education as an EA. Ended with “I will definitely be in touch.” Couple days later the external recruiter told me that they decided not to move forward. Three days after that the original interviewer emailed me saying they were still in the decision making process and I will hear back soon. I replied to the HR interviewer that the external recruiter already informed me that I was not moving forward. I get that HR is probably overwhelmed in today’s market place but why tell me it’s still open after telling recruiter I’m no longer being considered? Be respectful of applicants who take time off from their current job to interview and are polished and prepared. Update your internal antiquated process to reflect current technology. Process felt like assembly line production - no human element.
