      Software Engineer Interview

      Nov 26, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at MHR (London, England) in May 2023

      Interview

Went through 3 rounds of interview, was asked my salary expectations during both the pre-interview screening and the first round of interview. All was seeming well until the last interview when an executive was on the call. One of the interviewers who i previously disclosed my salary expectations to and who seemingly had been satisfied prior now started grilling me with "why do you think you're worth that much" and "can you justify asking for this much". Overall really quite negative and felt ambushed considering they'd had no objections during the prior 2 stages or the initial phone call. Took over 6 weeks to get back to me to say they had another position in a different department they thought I'd be a better fit for, but would need to go through the whole interview process again! No thank you. Plus the whole wearing suits in office thing is archaic. I've since landed a job working completely remote, for more money sat in my pyjamas.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Justify your salary expectations as we think you're asking for too much.
