      I saw a strong similarity between my previous company experience and this new role, which is why I chose to attend their interview. At first, the interviewer, who seemed nice and down-to-earth, made a good impression. But when it came to conducting the interview, things took a surprising turn. The opening question was an instant red flag: “Tell everything honestly. We have a great background verification team, and they check everything on the resume and what is said during the interview.” Quite an opener, right? Within the first 15 minutes, I knew this wasn't the right fit. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, thinking it might be a lack of experience on the interviewer's part. But coming from the "Head of HR"? Hard to believe. Here are a few myths I found myself debunking during the conversation: “Money-motivated people aren’t loyal employees. Seeing money as motivation is immature.” “Executive MBAs aren’t real MBAs.” “Talent Acquisition mainly looks for external candidates.” “Senior professionals won’t agree to take technical or psychometric tests.” “Being blunt in an interview equals transparency.” “The position was for Manager initially, but during the interview, it suddenly changed to Assistant Manager.” I ended up spending an hour busting these myths. The interviewer was a nice person but clearly lacked experience in interviewing senior profiles, especially as he was the line manager for the role. Realizing that, I decided to let this opportunity go.
