Interview process for future opportunities with The Mavin's list of clients. Asked questions regarding background. Disclosed what my next step in my career would be and she had several in mind. Had to sell myself versus her selling her services. Eventually we aligned my background with an organization which the founder recommended in terms of salary, future company growth etc. Not a very hard interview, but not exactly the most friendly one.
The company is still a start up and servicing smaller clients but offers a great deal of service for their company roster and has less focus on the talent's career path. Its located in one of the premiere make-shift trendy co-op offices, but lacks the professionalism that many leading talent agencies offer. For example, during my interview with XYZ company our room was not available yet, so was stuck with the VP doing the song and dance while hipster fashion wanna bes were scooting past us. Finally when the room opened up, we had already spoken about everything and we spent a total of 10 mins wrapping up only to see the founder prepping the next candidate immediately outside our office door. Thats usually a no-no at least with the companies I've worked with. You never want a candidate to ever feel like they are competing for the position let alone crossing paths the day of. If you are considering new opportunities consider the bigger more reputable agencies that put the emphasis on the talent vs. the vig.
