Pretty straight forward process. Applied online, then HR reached out about setting up the first meeting. There wasn't much communication with the HR person after they set up the initial meeting. 36 hours ahead of the call I asked about salary range since it wasn't listed in the JD as per pay transparency laws in NYS; I also asked who I'd be meeting with. They had included 2 names in the calendar invite but didn't mention if it was an FYI for them. Didn't get a reply.
First call: Got on zoom and it was 3 people, including the HR person who didn't participate. 30 mins, went over resume/experience, learned about the role and company. Before we ended the call I was asked in front of the group, including a potential colleague, about my salary requirements. Gave them a number based on research and other similarly titled positions I applied for.
Received an email from one of the people in the interview (not HR) to come in for a 1-hour in person chat.
In-person: Sat in a conference for almost 2.5 hours discussing my background and learning more about the team and company. There was a pretty basic excel demonstration/test. Towards the end one of the interviewers needed to go to another meeting and wanted me to wait but I couldn't and was asked once again about my salary requirements, which I restated. Again, in front of a potential colleague, which made me feel uncomfortable. Basically was told that it was at the top of the range -- a range that was never provided -- and they couldn't start me there.
Overall, the process moved pretty quickly.
