I had an initial interview with [Manager/Boss Name] and found them very friendly and engaging. The conversation was enjoyable, and I felt comfortable discussing my experience and skills.
During the interview, I was also asked about my family, my spouse’s work, and how I obtained my PR status. While I do not mind sharing this information, I felt that such questions were not appropriate for a professional interview setting.
At the end of the interview, I was asked to provide references. I promptly sent my references, but did not receive any confirmation. I followed up to ensure they were received, and after multiple attempts, I finally got a reply stating that they needed time. When I checked with my reference, they indicated that they had not been contacted at all.
Ultimately, one week after the interview, I was informed that another candidate was selected. I feel that the process, particularly requesting references but not acting on them or informing my referees, was disrespectful both to me as a candidate and to my references.
