      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Jun 4, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at MetaCell (New York, NY) in Mar 2024

      Interview

      - Introductory HR Interview (30 minutes): Just a general conversation about the role and my past experiences. - 1st Technical Interview (30 minutes): A 3 person panel, with general technical questions about the technical skills required for the role and my own technical skills. - 2nd Technical Interview (60 minutes): A 4 person panel, with similar questions to the first technical interview. Some of the questions were repeated from the 1st technical interview as well. That was supposed to be the last step in the hiring process. I've got positive feedback in all phases of the process up to the last final interview (the last time I've heard from them). From my view, the conversations went well in all phases of the process, particularly in the final interview. I tried to answer to all the questions to the best of my ability, as well as being as polite and as friendly as possible. I was really confident that they were going to follow-up with an offer given that the 2nd technical interview was the final interview. They seemed impressed by my answers and technical knowledge (as well by my personal demeanor). They told me that I was going to get feedback from them in 1-2 weeks max, but it never came. I was snubbed without any consideration. After spending 2 hours of my life talking to them plus the time to prepare for the interviews, I believe I deserved at least some feedback. It's been now 3 weeks since my final interview. Consider my patience: Took them three months to follow up from my application. I was very surprised by their follow-up, but given that they moved fast I believe they were seriously considering new hires. They felt a bit disorganized though. Maybe I get a follow-up 3 months from now?!?! More information about the company: It seems like the bulk of the work is as a "consultant" for external clients. You will most likely not be working on one of their "products" (they don't seem to have actually any product/platform). The skill-set depends more on the clients' needs than any of their "products" (not so sure they have any). Even though they seem registered as a U.S. company, every single person I talked to was European (mostly Italian nationals) and are based in Europe.
