100% commission cold calling job! I was contacted via email with 48 hrs of applying asking me to call them for a phone interview. During the phone interview I specifically asked if this position was commission and was told no and no it was not a sales cold calling job. Walked in for the interview and it was a cattle call. The interviewer also told me this was not a cold calling job and gave me a salary range of 35-45k/yr. I was told only 15% of the people that interview are called back for a second interview. I was called that evening and asked to come back the next day for an all day shadow of an existing account manager and I accepted. Arrived at 915am and they had us sit there until 1045am and every person I had seen in the lobby the previous day was back. We finally went outside to,leave and before we got I the employees personal car without signing a release he told us that this was a 100% commission cold calling position. I left as did the other prospective employee that was riding with the same employee. It is a scam and we were going to be soliciting for Comcast enrollment.

I applied online and heard back very quickly. The preliminary interview lasted 30 minutes for me and I had a great conversation with Mike Taylor, the Regional Manager. Being a bit further in my career, I verified that it would be a salaried position before coming in to the interview. All employees, regardless of career experience, start in outside sales selling Braves discounted tickets to businesses in your assigned zipcode. When the reps meet the sales goals, they advance eventually to a point where they partner with their client to tailor their marketing campaign to the assigned areas. Eventually, there is a lucrative salary involved of $75k reaching the Assistant Manager position where you would get off the street and remain in the office administrating the business. The office was in an old building off of Windy Hill, great proximity to 285 and the new Braves stadium. However, the office was old and less professional than I would prefer. Overall, it sounds like a great opportunity for a new grad to get their feet wet in business and potentially grow into a leadership role, but starting off in outside sales isn't for me. Similar to vector marketing selling Cutco knives, it's not for everyone. I declined moving forward with the full day shadowing one of the Account Directors as I knew it wasn't for me. Mike seems like a great guy and there is potential there, but not worth the risk in a commission heavy role in my situation.
