      Software Engineer Interview

      Feb 2, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Name.com (Denver, CO) in Dec 2021

      Interview

I had the Initial recruiter screening with behavioral questions, a code-along with two engineers who were very helpful and nice, and then 3 hours of behavioral interviews with pretty much everyone on the team at various points. The process extended over many weeks, since it started in December 2021 and stretched into January 2022. I spent a LOT of time interviewing here, only to be catfished. *** A verbal offer was made on a Monday with a lowball base salary and lower title, and then rescinded on Friday with BS vague reasons ("can't hire for this role any more", "we'll take the posting down some time next week") after I countered their lowball salary. This is a horrible thing to do to someone. You're messing with people's lives!! ***

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Name.com. We understand that we did not meet your expectations and want you to know that we hear you and we will use your feedback to improve our processes moving forward. At Name.com we truly strive to provide a stellar candidate experience, but in your specific situation we failed to achieve that. Unfortunately, in the midst of actively recruiting for a Software Engineer position, a business decision was made to pivot and utilize the headcount elsewhere in the organization. This was disappointing for our recruitment team and to several candidates who were in the same situation as yourself. We communicated to each of the candidates as soon as possible to minimize the impact as best as we could. Please know that this situation is rare, and not one we have experienced that far along into a search effort. We will absolutely use your input to provide a better experience should a similar situation occur again in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that we have caused you and wish you the very best in your future career endeavors. Should you choose to share additional thoughts or feedback, our door remains open to contact us at hr@donuts.email.
