They withdraw my offer.
I attended the interview on 20 Feb 2020. Everything seems OK in the interview and I told the interview panel that I have the visa limit until 14 Sep 2020.
On Sunday 1 March, a member of staff called me to congratulate me with the job offer. I received my job offer by email and I accepted it. Then the museum asked my work permit, saying HR was just in the process of finalising the contract to send over to me.
However today morning 3 March, their attitude U-turned and withdrawn the offer in the excuse that vacancy was advertised as a permanent position (actually it is not) and I am not able to fill the job with a visa time limit. Actually we have agreed on 2 March that my employment will have to be logged as a fixed term until the visa expiry date. They said the withdrawn was a Management decision and the position remains a Permanent Post and there is no recourse to Management. However, there is no mentioning of this position being a permanent one in the ads, job description and personal specifications, also the interview panel never speaks of this in the interview. They said suddenly they are unable to issue a contract Fixed term, as we agreed before.
I am appalled that their U-turned attitude and the weird excuse of offer withdrawn. If they won't want to have an individual with the visa time limit, why send me the job offer and call me to congratulate?? Why even shortlisted me?? I think that they don't want to give me the job because I am a Chinese and my race might be terrifying to the staff and the visitors of the museum, after the prime minister announces the kind of virus emergency on 3 March morning. This is discrimination to my race. I am a UK resident and have rights to work and I am very well with no sign of any illness.
