The whole process was delayed, the Talent Acquisition team made the applicants wait all day (till after lunch at 1pm) just to even start the process. In the technical round, the interviewer was very biased against local (bangalore) applicants and greatly allowed their judgement to be swayed based on the languages they spoke.
Personally, when they asked me to handle a call in Hindi, I let her know my proficiency was just enough to get by and I wasn't confident to handle debt collection in Hindi, but I can speak 5 languages and French fluently.
Her reply: "Yeah, I don't see how you will be able to carry out your work responsibilities if you don't know hindi. I'm not sure you will be a good culture fit in the company".
Me: "Sorry, it is my understanding that the standard operating language for the company is English, and could you elaborate on how my proficiency in a language will affect my fulfillment of the job roles. I also want to point out I am fluent in 5 other languages and French".
Interviewer: No No the job role does not require Hindi proficiency, but carry on the debt collection in all the languages you are fluent in, and switch when i ask you to.
The interviewer also made me do the call once more in French, even though she said she never even studied it.
