      IT Service Desk Manager Interview

      Dec 26, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Navy Pier (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2023

      Interview

The first interview was straightforward and took place with an IT C-level staff member virtually. I was moved on to the final interview which required an in-person interview with the IT team and HR. The second interview was very odd. It began with HR, and they campaigned very hard that they had a very positive culture within their organization. I was escorted down to the IT office space and met with the IT C-level staff member. We held another short, informal meeting, and then I was introduced to the current on-site IT team. This is where the interview turned cold, negative, and reflected a poor culture. Discussions began with several negative comments related to the IT support requests that actively came in during our interview. I was aggressively advised that if I didn't enjoy 24/7/365 work, that we should end the interview at that moment. During the "technical" interview, it appeared that the point seemed to be to attempt to rattle me. One resume situation was a role where I was tasked with PowerShell scripting. I had no prior experience in PowerShell scripting and was constantly learning more about PowerShell - even to this day. I never explained that I was a subject matter expert or held certifications in PowerShell, however, the negative style of questioning led me to believe that there was some mis-interpretation. When we reached an end to the questioning, the IT team would make mannerisms to one another - eye-rolling, sighing, long pauses with comments such as "ok....moving on", etc. Once the "technical" interview portion ended, the IT C-level staff member said he had nothing more for me and would be in touch. I was then ushered to the Uber pickup area. I followed up with a short thank you letter via email to the IT C-level staff member and was ghosted. I never heard back from HR or anyone within the org. I saw that the job listing was removed from their website a couple of weeks later, which was relieving because even if I had been offered the role, I would have declined due to the poorly reflected culture and demeanor of the staff.

Why did it take you 3-6 months to write proper PowerShell scripting to achieve AD automation through Adaxes?
