      Software Engineer Interview

      May 11, 2026
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Neighborly® (Atlanta, GA) in Feb 2026

      Interview

A recruiter reached out to me expressing interest in a software engineering opening. They were extremely helpful and advocated strongly for me as a candidate. The interviewers and software teams, however, were not so interested. The hiring manager for the job also so happened to be a manager on the team which the job was opened for. The recruiter relayed to me that there would be an assessment that was not deemed "pass/fail" and instead was meant to help Neighborly estimate where I may need growth with the company. Instead, however, Neighborly was extremely delayed in responses throughout this process, even waiting as long as 3-4 weeks between communications with the recruiter on updates for this job. Unfortunately, the hiring manager changed their mind on the nature of the assessment being "pass/fail," and instead changed the criteria of the job without notice to the recruiter and myself. Throughout the process they were wholly unprofessional in their communication time and what was communicated to the recruiter I was working with.
