Initial conversation via the phone with a member of the search committee. The group was unusually large with 14 members. They had worked for a long period of time to clarify their own congregational profile. It seemed that the volunteers on the team had very specific hopes with regard to programatic growth. This phone call was followed by requests for series of materials that would demonstrate my style of leadership and programming. Ultimately they narrowed their search to just 2 candidates of which I was one.
I was flown out for a face-to-face group interview. that meeting went well and they offered the job before I left. They had a congregational meeting the following weekend and voted to extend a call to me.
