Applied and subsequently had a phone interview for temp-to-hire role. Phone interview went well enough and the next week (approx.) contacted by HR to meet the rest of the team. I indicated that it would be preferable and most appropriate in my estimation to agree to the temporary contract terms before taking the day to meet everyone, and HR initially indicated this was feasible and asked what my hourly salary expectations were; after giving a number that was within range, HR then went back - or did not understand that agreeing to terms meant having them in writing and signed - and indicated nothing can be finalized until after meeting the team. Admittedly I was a bit perturbed and confused and, as I did not immediately have a 4 hour block available, communicated two 1-hour windows (this communication was in the late afternoon). The next morning, I get an email from HR saying the opportunity "would not be a good fit". Attempted to reconcile by escalating but was basically given the cold shoulder.
Perhaps I should be thankful that I was even addressed by name... interviewers take heed!
