The processes was way too long and drawn out. The people were nice at least initially, but the process was disrespectful. I interviewed with HR, two hiring managers, an outside agency the org was using. I prepared questions and interviewed an SME to do a required writing assessment. I did a panel interview, after which, they said they'd let me know in a week. A week goes by -- crickets. So, I reach out and get an automated reply -- the same kind they probably sent somebody who was eliminated in the second round. I was disappointed, but what can you do? I sent a reply asking for more information about why I wasn't selected. HR responds with a completely AI generated response about how the other candidate had experience that more closely aligned with the job. Ok, makes sense. No reply from either of the hiring managers. I wait a couple weeks, then check out who they hired on LinkedIn. The other candidate's primary experience was writing puff pieces at a celebrity magazine.
I get that some of this comes off as aggrievement -- that's because it is. haha
It was over two months of interviewing, waiting, researching and preparing for an automated email rejection. For one of the interviews, I was given less 24 hours notice, went out and bought a dress shirt since I was on vacation (which I told them) and I still took the interview.
Cool mission-driven organization though. :-)
