The process is extremely deceptive and unprofessional.
The initial interview was very easy. Hen(Owner) read over my resume and asked very basic questions. He then told me that I’d be driving deliveries potentially in the area between Sacramento and Bakersfield with the pay expected to be $1400 per week. After minimal information he offered a ride along final interview to finish the process and be hired. Sounded like a great opportunity.
The ride along interview is where everything changed. First thing about the ride along is that it was with a driver going to Sacramento which ended up being an unpaid 12 hour round trip car ride. During this trip leaving Fresno it began with very basic questions and friendly conversation. When talking about the position it was then revealed to me that this was not a route driver position. The job was actually door to door sales with the deliveries being the people that you personally sell to and that the pay was completely reliant on commissions. This is not what was previously stated but by this time I’m in a van passing through Merced along for the ride. I observed as every delivery and door knocked on was an elderly person and/or used EBT. I listened to the predatory language as people were pressured and manipulated into spending their last. Once we arrived back to the garage around 7pm only the manager was there not the owner. When I asked to speak with the owner and for more clarification on the job that I was initially offered, the manager started calling me homophobic and racial slurs while trying to physically fight me threatening to kill me.
Stay away from this company unless you’re a felon or homeless and extremely desperate.
