Interview
I was contacted days after applying by a recruiter who was very kind and asked some basic questions about previous internships and experience. She set up an interview with the team the following business day. They asked fairly standard introductory journalism questions as well as a basic news quiz. After that I reached out numerous times and it took about three weeks to learn that I did not receive an offer, which was definitely frustrating, but overall they were nice enough.

Five interview rounds with multiple people in the newsroom. Mostly standard, be knowledgable about current events and the NewsHour brand.
Beware, they pay far below the D.C. living wage and are not very transparent about it.
