      Java Developer Interview

      Jul 6, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Hamburg
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Parship Group (Hamburg) in Jul 2023

      Interview

The interview was held through Microsoft Teams. We had a call for an hour. There were two team leads and the lady from HR. During this call, 30mins were reserved for a small task which was done through PR, small algorithm task which was send on my email when the interview started. First we were going through the task, to understand it and what it is needed to be done. While I was coding, I was explaining step by step what I will do and why I will do it, there were small errors which I manage to fix, and the output was as expected, I even asked them, quote: "Is this the expected result?", answer: "Yes, this is great, thank you". The rest 30mins were about my background and for me to ask questions about them. Everything was fine, the conversation was pleasant, everyone seemed to enjoy the interview. One day later, I got a call from the HR to be informed that everything was fine, BUT my technical skills were not good enough and the task was NOT 100% finished. I asked her: "how can it not be 100% finished when I finished the task while sharing my screen, even asked them about the output, and there answer was: Yes, this is great, thank you. Another thing, how can you judge technical skills in a 15-20mins assignment? It doesn`t matter how many years of experience you have, you can not judge the skills from a 20mins PR, plus, the seniority wasn`t specified. Message to all of them: skills can be taught, but attitude is forever.
