Frustrating and Disorganized Hiring Process
I recently went through the hiring process for a Creative Project Manager position at Pattern, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory.
The process started off well with an initial HR call, followed by a technical interview, and I was shortlisted for the next round. The cultural fit interview with the director went smoothly, and I was told I would be moving forward. At this stage, I felt optimistic about the opportunity.
However, things quickly took a negative turn. After providing my references, the reference check process took an unusually long time, and I had to follow up multiple times to get any updates. After several weeks of waiting, I was informed that my application was declined due to an issue with the reference feedback. This was surprising, as my references had all given positive and constructive feedback.
What stood out the most was the lack of communication. I spent nearly six weeks in the process, but at no point did I receive proactive updates from the HR team. I had to chase down answers and received only vague and incomplete responses, which was frustrating.
For a company that prides itself on innovation, I expected a much more organized and transparent process. While the role and the company seemed promising, the lack of professionalism and communication during the hiring process was a major disappointment.
I would recommend that Pattern review and improve their candidate communication, timelines, and feedback processes to ensure a more respectful and efficient experience for future applicants.
