Saw posting on online job board, emailed my resume, and got an automated response. Totally forgot about applying until I got a phone call about two weeks later. Did a 30 min. phone screening and was told an interview would be scheduled that afternoon but it never was.
Don't get your hopes up about this place when having a phone interview. The owner is very friendly and will ask you deeply personal questions (at some point she asked if I had worked at a certain non-profit because someone in my family had cancer), but don't take that as a sign that you are worth their time. The owner told me personal stories, talked about her husband, and ended up taking over half an hour from my day with her chattiness. She promised to call me back that afternoon to schedule an interview, and she never did. I emailed her the next day to follow up and she never emailed me back.
I understand that tons of businesses do this because they are flooded with applicants, but when you specifically tell a potential employee that YOU WILL call them to schedule an interview and you don't, it's just rude. Just tell the employee that they aren't getting an interview. It's not like I had all my hopes pinned to this job, but I just didn't appreciate being lied to. It was unprofessional on their part.
