The most unprofessional interview I’ve experienced. Informed the Recruiter I could speak with Perpetual’s President, Jim Hickey, at 5:10 yesterday. He calls at 5:02 with a stern voicemail as if he called on time and I’m at fault for missing the call. I stated 5:10 for a reason.
I call back and Jim presents a Branch Manager opp with an agency that has one Recruiter, no one else. Everyone else has left. Per Jim, that branch hasn’t had a manager for 6 months plus. I mention that attrition occurs for several reasons and if it was due to one of the reasons I’d mentioned, I would not be interested, but I’m open to hearing why. Jim bluntly says “I heard “not interested” and “you’d like to know more” so which is it because if you’re not interested, it’s best we not waste anymore of our time here”. For the simple fact that Jim did not comprehend my message and was disrespectful, I professionally stated that I’ll pass.
Call on time, listen, welcome feedback, and don’t say candidates are wasting your time. Especially candidates that you’ve headhunted who have more leverage to say “no”.
