      Frontend Engineer Interview

      Dec 16, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at PhysicsX (London, England) in Dec 2025

      Interview

After an initial screening call with the recruiter, I was asked to complete a UI coding assignment with an estimated duration of around three hours. I invested significant time and effort into the task and submitted a working solution using React and TypeScript, along with a demo video explaining the functionality and performance considerations. The turnaround time for feedback was longer than expected, and I had to follow up a few times before receiving a response. When feedback was provided, it focused heavily on relatively minor details that did not seem critical for an interview-level task, rather than on overall problem-solving, code structure, or core implementation. Some feedback points also appeared to reference features that were either outside the original scope or already demonstrated in the submission. As a result, the assessment criteria felt unclear, and the evaluation did not seem to fully reflect the skills or effort demonstrated within the given time constraints. While the recruiter was polite and professional throughout, the overall experience felt misaligned in terms of expectations and evaluation. Clearer scope definition and a more holistic assessment approach could help improve the candidate experience.
