      IT Manager Interview

      Mar 18, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pion (London, England) in Feb 2025

      Interview

1st Call with talent team. 2nd call with hiring manager 3rd interview to present to hiring manager and legal team on given topic Initially the experience was positive but quickly soured upon being asked to do 2 exams, 1 for mental agility and another for values and personality type as well as present on how to create secure onboarding systems. Both tests having absolutely nothing to do with the role, this helped me realise they do not understand what they want or need and rely on these Sudo scientific tests to prop up the inadequacies of the hiring team. No one in my interview understood anything I was talking about or made any attempt to try, there was no questions relevant to the role. They lacked understanding of what the role requires. If you have been a company for nearly 20 years and are only just creating an IT department, you need some serious help, whoever walks into this job will be getting severely underpaid to prop up the inadequacies of the business. Avoid this company if you work in a technical role and value yourself. Following the pattern of reviews on here, they seem to always have some convenient excuse for why their communication was sub par. If only they were as concerned about replying to their candidates as they are to feedback on here, they might have more positive reviews. Application withdrawn.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with us didn’t meet your expectations. At Pion, we use real life competency based tasks and psychometric exercises which are common practice in recruitment. The psychometric exercises are designed to give us a better understanding of how someone works, what their strengths are, and where they might need support. They’re not something you pass or fail, and they’re not used as the deciding factor in who gets the role. We make sure to explain this clearly to all candidates in advance and to let us know if they have any questions. We’d also like to clarify that this isn’t the first time Pion has had an IT department. The role you applied for was part of a broader effort to grow and strengthen our technology function. Regarding communication and feedback, we take your comments seriously. While we do our best to be fair and transparent, we know we can always do better and we’re committed to making improvements where they’re needed. Feedback like yours helps us move in the right direction. Wishing you the very best in your future opportunities.
