It started off well but eventually turned quite confusing and disorganized. I first had a call with HR, where we discussed the role and salary expectations and we aligned on everything. I then had an in-person interview with the director, which went well, and I was given an assignment to submit as soon as possible. I completed and submitted it on time.
Later, I was interviewed by the manager, who asked me to present the same assignment. After presenting it, I was told I’d be given another one, this time to assess my presentation skills. HR, surprisingly, was unaware of this second assignment and only later told me it was to evaluate my strategy skills, something that felt like a last-minute justification rather than clear planning.
When I finally received the second assignment, the instructions were vague and unclear. I reached out to HR for clarity, but she redirected me to the manager, saying she didn’t know the details. I emailed the manager, and it took a week to get a response. Her reply was that “decoding the assignment” was part of the task itself, and that since it was a pitch, I should figure it out on my own.
To expect a fully developed pitch from a junior candidate without clear instructions or guidance feels unreasonable. Overall, the communication was poor, and the process felt disjointed and unnecessarily complicated
