      Marketing Consultant Interview

      Jan 27, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Prestiz (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2020

      Interview

Complete scam. Don’t fall for this. They will do an interview with anyone who submits a resume. I also guarantee that you could randomly walk in there and give your resume to the receptionist, and they would give you an interview because they have no idea who are applying for these roles. I spent hours out of my day prepping for what I thought was going to be a standard interview. I didn’t even get to ask any questions and my resume wasn’t looked at once. They do in person interviews as apposed to over the phone interview because they say they want to get a face to the name, but it’s actually because they know people would hang up if they actually pitched their company to potential employees. Once I arrived, I was in a room with 10 other people. The name of the company was different than the name of the company listed on its door. Which was the first indicator that this wasn’t going to be great. I waited for 40 minutes just to have an impersonal 5 minute fast tracked scripted conversation with one of the hiring managers. He talked a mile a minute and asked nothing about my background or work history. He even asked me which job I would be interested in, which tells me they know nothing about anyone that’s applying here. I applied to a Marketing consultant role and after the hiring director briefly gave me a confusing and vague overview of what the company does, I realized I had been bait and switched for this role. They post a million different job titles online to get people to show up for the interview. It’s a complete scam, insulting to my time and a waste. They are just looking to get hot bodies in the door who are naïve enough to believe the garbage they’re spewing. There’s a reason there’s no much information about them online, this whole business is a scam looking to pay close to nothing with a high turn over rate. They’ll tell you that they will call you around 4 or 5 that day to let you know if they have picked you for a second interview at 8 am the next day. They’ll tell you that you and 7 other people out of a pool of 45 people will only be picked for a second round of interviews. But how can they judge anyone’s qualification for various job roles after talking at you for 5 short minutes? They’ll call you and tell you that you’ve been chosen as a final candidate. Which is a lie because they know smart people see past this scam, so they’re telling everyone they’ve been chosen. They have a whole system dedicated to trying to find desperate or naïve employees to work for them for a few months, before realizing how badly they’re being taken advantage of and then quit. Please don’t waste your time like I did. Don’t give them the time of day.

      Interview

Initially getting to the interview, it seemed like a mass interviewing day, 25-30 people in the waiting room of an office space that didn't say "Prestiz" on it anywhere. The first interview was 5 minutes long, and I had questions but they did not give me a chance to answer them. Very sketchy. They didn't ask me about my background or experience, and didn't explain anything about their company besides that there are no executives. Got called for second round interview where I was told it would be more informative and I thought more personal for them to ask about my experience. NO. I was handed off to some new people and they said they would go over the business at a café near by, and we went to a Panera (which they took all the tables at, noone bought anything) and finally I was told what "event marketing" was for them - tabling at malls and when it's nice out on the streets as their "direct marketing". Sketchy and Unprofessional environment. Nothing seemed legit at all. Also they kept making us fill out worksheets that were irrelevant.
