First, I would like to thank Quantified Media, Inc., for contacting me. You only confirmed that my resume and years of experience are impressive, to which I worked very hard to archive. Allow me to get to the point. Based on the comments that I have read on Glassdoor, to which I should have read before setting up an interview, your interviewing process have not improved. Before hiring additional staff, focus on improving your hiring methods; this will either make or break your startup company. Evidently, you are looking for talented people, but in the process you are burning bridges that you will possible need in the future. In addition, keep in mind that Glassdoor is a tool used to express experiences that employees, managers, etc., have with a company, Quantified Media, Inc. Glassdoor is becoming the Google for knowledge! On to my experience. Just recently, I received a call and an interview was scheduled; to which I attended. In setting and agreeing to a date and time, you would think all persons involved in this process would be available, since they knew I was coming. However, priority was placed on a meeting and working with colleagues in India. The problem you may ask. You (the hiring manager) knew morning hours were dedicated to working with India; why not change the time for the interview where all could attend? I met with one person, he demonstrates what I would be working on, and explains the skillset they are looking for, I provide samples (outstanding samples I do say), and then the big question… what salary are you looking for? I tell him, he comments on the salary, saying for the years of experience are commensurate with the salary, to which I say, “and it is negotiable.” His comment “I do not see why it cannot happen.” Then he takes the samples to his boss, who so happens to be in a meeting, and he comes back, saying he would need to schedule an additional meeting for me to sit and talk with her (his boss). Frankly, and I am sure you would agree, the brief discussion regarding the salary was the deal breaker. I was so excited about the position and the work that it involved. Well, lost that opportunity! No worries, because they missed out a person that would have made that position rock! Check this out, not a soul from Quantified Media has responded to my emails. Really! Who does that? I’ll mention no names, since I am trying to keep it professional as possible. Here is my recommendation on how you can improve the hiring process, and keep in mind Quantified Media hiring managers that read this, I spent $10 for transportation to and from New York (round trip ticket from New Jersey), to sit on an interview where the key player was not available and then you tell me to come back. If you had used Skype or Go-to-Meeting, the screening process could have been simple and easy for both you and me. Try using this method for the feature, then you can find out what you need to know oppose to wasting everyone’s time, including yours. My $10 could have been used for a meal or gas in my car. People do not have time for that unprofessional, careless attitude when looking for employment! Before hiring anyone, focus on establishing good processes, learn how to manage your time better, and be upfront on what you are looking for (Salary!) with job seekers.
