Very disappointing interview. Questat is an extremely small start-up company. The person who interviewed me admitted to me they were barely able to have the minimum PPE due to the pandemic and they’re forcing people to work in close-quarters in-person. The job was minimum wage, on-call 24/7 and also paid only part-time.
They kept bragging about their company and they also only interviewed me to find out what their competitors were doing such as how they make their products and how they file patents. They clearly wanted a free chemical engineering consultation instead of a job interview.
For example, they were asking me to do a job interview just to find out about safety regulations for their start-up lab company, as they didn’t know how to store acids and bases properly, about fire hazard doors, extinguishers, etc. and they kept asking me things like “Say you have $100k to spend, how would you distribute it when buying lab equipment?”. The interview I had had nothing to do with the job description that they posted, they just wanted free information.
It’s clear they had no intention of hiring me for the job and I am extremely disappointed with the interviewer’s behavior. I also had to follow-up with them numerous times before they have me a generic “We went with someone more experienced” job rejection.
If you don’t believe me when I say this is a start-up company that's not doing well at all, go check how bare their website is.
