After applying online, I was contacted by a member of the Talent Management team to set up an initial phone call. That was the typical run-through of the role to ensure it aligned with my experience and what I was looking for. I appreciated that we were able to have transparent conversations about compensation expectations from the jump, so there would be no surprises or misalignments later on. The talent management individual I worked with was incredibly communicative, helpful, and transparent.
I had one 1x1 VP level and one 2x1 Director level interviews with members of the Analytics team. Everyone was engaged, candid, and smart. They all asked great questions to probe my experience and skills, while still making me feel like part of a conversation. I was able to communicate my strengths naturally, gather information about the work and culture, and I genuinely had fun. There was no technical grilling, as technical prowess was demonstrated through the examples given in answering the questions. I would rate the interviews as "difficult" only because you do need to have a high level of technical marketing measurement data expertise to hold your own and impress in these conversations.
Ultimately, I did not advance through the process. (The next step would have been a take-home case study and presentation, to get a feel for how I work with and communicate data.) I received a phone call from the talent management contact to share the news. I was surprised that she took the time to give me the news personally, and also gave me genuine and well-intentioned feedback about why I was not advancing. That really impressed me! Instead of getting a form declination email, I received personal outreach with positive feedback, constructive feedback, and advice. A class act!
Overall, an extremely positive interview experience at every stage. The process moved quickly, with approximately 1-2 calls scheduled per week, depending on schedules. Communication was timely, organized, and friendly. Even though I ultimately did not get an offer, the interview process left me with an even more positive perception of Rain, so it remains one of my handful of "dream" agencies that I keep a close eye on for future openings. You can tell a lot about a company's and team's culture from its interview process, and my experience was extremely positive.
