      Marketing Analyst Interview

      Mar 21, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Red Dog Media in Jan 2025

      Interview

Current process starts with an online assessment that you must pass and then once you do, you proceed to a 1 hour interview. Unfortunately, this whole process is a joke and a mediocre attempt at being "choosy". In reality, the don't really care about relevant experience or anything from your prior roles as you'll still have to go through the same process as a brand-new graduate. So in short, the reason I would avoid this role is because you'll still be underpaid and any relevant skills you have would be better off at a competitor which will pay you market rate. It kinda makes sense why there's multiples of this role out there because they probably have turnover. Finally, if you do make it all the way through please know your value and if they undercut you it's just the first of the many reasons to leave. If your long term goal is marketing and it's the only offer you have look other places after 1-year.

At Red Dog Media, we use a consistent process, including an initial assessment and structured interviews, to create a fair, level playing field for all candidates. This approach helps us evaluate experience and potential, ensuring we're making thoughtful, data-driven hiring decisions across various backgrounds. To be clear, we absolutely value relevant experience, which plays an essential role in our evaluation process and compensation conversations. At the same time, we believe strong problem-solving and analytical thinking are key to success in our environment, which is why we assess those skills directly. We also prioritize transparency. We always include the salary range in our job listings so candidates can make informed decisions right from the start. Our offers are based on the role’s scope, internal equity, and current market data, so we can be sure we offer competitive compensation packages. We know we won’t be the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay. We appreciate your candid feedback and wish you all the best in finding a role that aligns with your goals.

      Interview

so basically, one analytical assessment with 10 questions and I passed it, and got a so-called one-way culture fit interview for 1 hour, and the feedback feels good until later I received a email from them saying will not proceed with my application without a proper reason, now I doubt if they really want to hire or just ghosting.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re sorry to hear it left you feeling uncertain. At Red Dog Media, we’re committed to a fair and respectful hiring process, and we understand that a brief rejection email can feel abrupt. While we don’t automatically include detailed feedback in every response (since not everyone wants unsolicited feedback), our recruiter always includes contact information and welcomes candidates to reach out if they’d like more insight. We're happy to share constructive feedback when requested. We also want to be clear: we don’t conduct interviews unless we’re seriously considering a hire. Every step of our process is designed to thoughtfully assess fit, not just skills. Thank you again for your time and effort in completing the process. We truly wish you the best in your search.

They asked me to complete an assessment, which I think is unreasonable. I don't know which question I got wrong and I am not allowed to review those answers. More importantly, this position is on the hiring app again. I believe it's a scam. HR just boost her KPI by interviewing people.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand that going through multiple interview rounds and not receiving an offer can be frustrating, and we truly appreciate the effort you put into the process. At Red Dog Media, we take hiring seriously and are committed to a fair and structured evaluation process to ensure we find the best fit for the candidate and the role. Our interview process includes multiple stages so we can assess different skill sets—including analytical thinking, technical expertise, and culture fit. While we receive many strong applicants, we unfortunately can’t move forward with everyone. That doesn’t mean your skills and abilities aren’t valuable. It's just that we ultimately made a decision based on what was the best fit for this specific role at this time. We encourage candidates to continue growing and applying to roles that align with their strengths. We appreciate the time and effort you invested in interviewing with us and wish you the best in your job search!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that assessments can feel challenging, and we appreciate your time and effort in the interview process. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills are essential for roles like Marketing Analyst. That’s why we use a standardized Analytical Thinking Assessment—a multiple-choice test designed to fairly evaluate candidates based on key skills like numerical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking. This helps us maintain an objective screening process and consider more applicants beyond just their resumes. While assessment results are not automatically shared, candidates can request their scores, and we’re happy to provide that information upon request. We encourage you to contact our recruiter via email (it’s in the original invite you received) if you have any further questions. Regarding your concern about the job posting, some of our job postings remain open year-round. We keep these opportunities posted because we’re always seeking top performers who will add real value to our team. Our interview process is intentionally thorough and highly competitive, ensuring that every candidate we bring on board not only meets the qualifications but also stands out as someone who embodies the qualities that make Red Dog Media thrive. We appreciate your interest in Red Dog Media and wish you the best in your job search!
