References were requested in the late stage without any prior mention of it. Scheduling the final interview turned out to be a friction point and after rearranging my schedule to make it work and all of my references being interviewed, I received a template rejection email from the hiring manager a week later. They did say they were willing to hop on another call to answer any questions I might have, but no specific feedback or explanation was proactively offered.

I made it to 3 rounds; the first interview was the recruiter call and I was surprised that it was an actual interview vs informative call about the role. I made it to two additional rounds, all voice/video. One interview was formal the other was very very casual.
