After 3 rounds of interviews, they asked me to provide references. After speaking to 4 referees, they just abruptly sent an email saying that they had decided to go with another candidate. There were several red flags during the interview. This is a small family business and management protocols and best practices did not appear to be present. They tried to present themselves as larger than they are in terms of their projects, programs, and funding but did not provide satisfactory responses when asked about how much funding they have, operational expenses, etc. information that would be necessary to make an employment decision. There seemed to be an unfair emphasis on committing to the organization for the next several years. In the absence of whether the organization is stable, secure, and whether it has growth potential, this type of approach made me very uncomfortable.
