      On International Labor Day (1st May), if there is one company that deserves a mention- not for good reasons- it is Ruggable. I haven’t worked for them but interviewing with them gave me a clear insight into what working at Ruggable looks like. A company which interviews you for a month- 5 stages (Phone screen, SQL, Product Analytics, A Take-home case I spent my 4 days on, virtual on-site)- and then ghosts you. This company claims to care for ‘People, planet, and pets’, I wonder what planet they are talking about because they are definitely not talking about the people of this planet. I mean, it takes a certain level of immoral conduct to ask a candidate, who is actively looking for employment, to spend a whole month, invest their time and energy in the interview process, only to be insulted by the company. A company that doesn’t even have the guts to say the clichéd words- “No, you’re not the right fit for this position”. “Silence is golden", they say, but some silence is insulting, humiliating & dehumanizing. It is an attempt to make the candidate feel worthless - whose time, mental and physical resources have no worth in their eyes. I write this on Labor Day to remind the workers at Ruggable - Don’t let the system fool you - A company that treats a vulnerable labor force (young college grads) like this, can never be just to you. I ask the candidates who are going to apply to Ruggable - As soon as you start interviewing with them, tell them - We have certain rights and the most basic right is to be treated with dignity and respect. And lastly, to all the companies - Stop treating your candidates & the workforce with disrespect. Also, asking for free work from candidates (or anyone) is exploitation. Happy May Day everyone!
