      Field Engineer Interview

      Apr 2, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Oklahoma City, OK
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SLB (Oklahoma City, OK) in Mar 2013

      Interview

I first spoke with Schlumberger at a job fair and was contacted through my University about an on campus interview. The night before the interview they asked us to attend an information session which gave us a general overview of the position. About a week after the first interview I got an email inviting me to attend a second interview session in Oklahoma City, OK. For the second interview, all the travel arrangements and hotel stay were taken care of as well as all meals while we were with the recruiters. Additionally, they gave everyone a $100 cash card for any other "costs" associated with our travel, good to use on anything for the next 30 days. After arriving from the airport we had some time to settle in before meeting at 6PM. There were 17 total applicants and 2 recruiters. They started us off with presentations about the different positions available under the realm of "Field Engineer." As an applicant, we were split into groups and asked to present a 3-5 minute slideshow about the processes that field engineers oversee. The presentations actually ended up being about 20 minutes after all of the questions that the recruiters and other applicants asked. Dinner was served in the conference room a bit after 8 PM, and we had a bit of a break before the presentations resumed. Around 1AM we got into 4 groups and had to do a team-building activity. After the teams disassembled the presentations continued until about 3AM. We had to be up and ready to go by 8:30 the next morning for the bus to take us to see some equipment they use for cementing and fracking. There we got to ask a panel of field engineers any questions we wanted while our recruiters stepped away. After that we stopped to get lunch on the way to a drilling rig so we could see what a D&M field engineer does on the job. We got back to the hotel and had about an hour before our exit interviews were assigned. The exit interviews were really informal, basically handing over our paperwork and we were given a chance to ask any final questions that we might have had. They asked me if I would prefer segment over location or vice-versa, and if I could see myself working for them after learning more about the lifestyle and what the work entails. This concluded the "interview" portion, after that they took everyone to dinner at a nice restaurant where we could order any food or beverage that we wanted. The bus took us back to the hotel and a bunch of us took our $100 gift cards to the hotel bar, in the morning the bus took everyone to the airport and we parted ways. They told us they would let us know within 2 weeks whether or not we had an offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

In the first interview they asked the most questions, mostly seemed to be trying to figure out what type of person I am and what I do with my time outside of school, how I deal with difficult situations, etc.

      I interviewed at SLB (Mumbai)

      Interview

It was an on campus hiring. First they shortlisted based on CV. Then second round was group discussion where we were given abstract topics like "Half filled glass of water" and were asked to discuss. This was also an eliminatory round. The final round was more of a HR round, they asked behavioural questions, few puzzles (very easy) and general knowledge questions
