First interview with the manager went great. I thought he was extremely friendly and I felt like we got along pretty well. Second interview (technical review) the interviewer was a no-show. Third interview (reschedule), the first interviewer showed up but with no camera turned on. He requested his peer to join, but he was a no-show. We waited for about 5 minutes for the other guy to show up – and when he does, he also had his camera off too. Note: Interviewers - you need to be presentable and turn your cameras on. It's incredibly difficult to interview in front of a blank screen. The interview lasted about an hour. One of the interviewers was rude. He kept cutting me off. His questions were stated unclear, which resulted in me keeping to ask for context or my answers were not very clear in return. For example, he'd ask me how I'd solve a problem, and when I got to a certain point, he'd interrupt and shout "NOT LIKE THAT. I WANT ONE WORD." The other engineer questioned me on a method of passing in a variable to Terraform, which hasn't been in practice in over 5 years. Every Terraform course I've taken doesn't talk about passing in variables that way. Same with the Terraform state file. He made a mention of how older versions of Terraform stores credentials in the state file. So... don't use a super old version of Terraform and also host the state file in a secure location? The recruiter got back to me and said they've been turning everyone down for this position. Apparently they want someone who knows everything about everything. I walked away from this interview with some useful knowledge, but overall a bad experience with SMArtX. One of the interviewers came off as rude. Both came off as unprofessional and did not communicate very well. I imagined that it would not be a very good experience to work with these people.
