      Full Stack Technical Lead Interview

      Oct 19, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Searchland in Oct 2024

      Interview

I had a 1:1 interview with HR first. No one attended, and after that I sent an email, and we proceeded to rearrange the interview for another day. When we had the interview HR was nice and I got excited about working for the company, it seemed to align perfectly with my values so I prioritised them. They sent me a tech test that took a few hours, I included documentation, tests, and used some of the technologies they required which I didn't have experience with, but were reasonably easy to get started with. The task was average difficulty. Just a full stack app with a basic table, routing, and CRUD operations. After I sent them the test, I never heard back from them. They were supposed to setup a third interview in which we would discuss the test. The external recruiting agency told me that they told them they wouldn't be proceeding, but they were waiting for feedback to let me know in an official way. I didn't get any other responses so I sent a message directly to HR because I thought we had good rapport and wanted to take an opportunity to learn from feedback. I thought I had done a very good job and delivered a solid application. HR never responded. It disappointed me because I spent hours between interviewing, learning new technologies for them, and working on a take home test, and they declined to provide any feedback or have a conversation about the code. The recruiting agency was surprised at their behaviour and asked me if I wanted to challenge the decision but I declined.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I truly appreciate the effort you put into the application process, from the interviews to completing the task, and I’m sorry that the experience left you feeling disappointed. It was never our intention to leave you without clear communication or feedback. This recruitment round has been a particularly busy one, and while I always aim to provide feedback wherever possible, it can sometimes be challenging to respond to every candidate, especially when managing multiple roles simultaneously. That said, I fully understand the importance of feedback and how it can help candidates in their professional growth. We’ve since made adjustments to our processes to ensure we can provide more structured feedback to candidates moving forward. However, it’s worth noting that not all companies can reply to every candidate regarding rejections due to the sheer volume of applicants and other operational priorities. If you would still like feedback on your application, I’d be happy to revisit your submission and provide insights. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if that would be helpful. Thank you again for your understanding, and I wish you the very best in your career journey.
