Applied online, got an offer for a phone interview a few weeks later. It was brief, casual, and pretty low information but went well. My interviewer was friendly enough and seemed refreshingly honest, though short on details about the role.
The question of a security clearance came up, and while I no longer had one, I did in the past so I brought that up thinking that it might be helpful. Apparently someone on staff misinterpreted me and thought I had one, which made it much more likely for me to get an offer. The timeline on the contract was tight but Sehlke was generous enough to put me through for a clearance anyways.
After filling out my paperwork and waiting a month, it turns out that someone made a mistake by leaving out key information so I had to do it all over again. After another month or so, my clearance finally came through. I then waited a week for my NDA and other paperwork just to be signed. Finally got it all wrapped up on a Friday.
The next Monday, I was told I did not have a job after all.
The powers that be told me they would help me along and keep looking for other contracts for me, but its been mostly radio silence with only the slightest scraps of information to string me along. This has been going on for months.
People seem nice enough, but this is not an organization that has its act together all of the time.
