      Executive Administrative Assistant Interview

      Jan 24, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Palmetto, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Selah Freedom (Palmetto, FL)

      Interview

I had a Skype interview set up for a Wednesday. On Monday, one of my references said someone from the company had already called her. After that, the company called me and asked to set up 2 phone interviews with different people Tuesday, the day before the Skype interview. I waited for the call at the scheduled time (I did not know who would be calling me.) 15 minutes past the scheduled time, the person who set up the interview said they were having technical difficulties and gave me a number to call. I asked for the name of who I was calling and dialed the number. It sounded like the woman was driving in her car and she said she only had 15 mins. So she starts asking me for specific work experiences - like a time when I made a mistake and how I handled it, or when I had conflict with a coworker and how I handled it, all negative things that were hard to answer. On a couple of the questions I didn't even have an answer so I was just honest and told her I hadn't been in that situation. So then she tells me she's asking these because of their "core values" and if someone doesn't agree with even one then they'll have a really hard time working there. I felt their values were all common sense things that any professional would know and be able to agree with - like owning your mistakes, going directly to that person if you have a conflict, gratefulness. I told her of course, I agree. But the experiences I gave her didn't necessarily line up with what she was looking for so I felt like the answers I gave her were wrong, even though I did agree with those things, the situations I gave her just weren't specific to those "values." Then with about 4 minutes left, she asked if I had any questions for her. I was thinking uhhhh yeah I know nothing about this job yet... but I didn't have time to ask all of my questions and assumed I would get a chance to ask more in the next interview, so I asked her what her job was in relation to this position - (would she be my boss? I had no clue) and she explained what her title was but didn't really answer my question. I also asked about the work culture but then she had to go. I did not feel like this was a real interview as it was so rushed, I didn't find anything out about the job and they didn't ask a thing about me as a person. For the next phone interview, I again waited 15 mins and got no call, until the interview scheduler called again and said she would have to reschedule. The the next morning, the day of my Skype interview, I get an email saying they had decided to go in another direction. I felt their interview process was very unprofessional and I hung up from the first feeling like I was wrong and being judged based off my answers on my negative past work experiences. Very bad experience!
