I went outside the usual HR process and was treated very well by the VP who interviewed me. We had a preliminary 2 hour interview and I followed by meeting with members of her staff for lunch meetings. Knowledge of the client's business helped me since I had examples of where I had done change management work and what some of the challenges and opportunities were. Speaking a common OD and PM language helped as well as well as knowing some people in common. The office was very professional, dealings were open. They do not hire until a paying engagement comes up, so one can have a contingent offer and wait for a while.
