I was approached by a recruiter because of my portfolio. We exchanged a couple emails and then I was given a trial assignment (that was paid, NOT on spec) to see if I fit with their editorial workflow and team. Following the completion of the editorial assignment, I was given quick feedback, immediate notification I had passed, and was set up to do work with them by the following week!

The interview process was very straightforward to get on the freelance content writing roster. Only one interview needed with a few writing samples/portfolio provided. I was most impressed by how honest and transparent they were with payment terms.
