I applied online. I interviewed at Smals

      Interview

The process starts with a nice HR screening and some tests, but the on-site meeting with the client was a completely different story. Even though it's supposed to be a bilingual company, the entire office operates strictly in Dutch, and there's no real French-speaking presence. They hide behind a bunch of illogical excuses just to avoid explicitly saying they want someone Flemish. I'd be curious to know the actual share of Flemish and Walloon workers there. It's a shame, because the actual scope of the position looks incredibly light anyway: mostly just showing up for stand-ups and sitting through low-engagement meetings. The HR team at Smals is genuinely understanding and actually takes the time to give proper feedback so kudos to them. The client, on the other hand, needs to drop the condescending attitude. and be more empathetic towards candidates that don't necessarily have years of experience doing meetings like they do.
