The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smith+Nephew (Memphis, TN) in Oct 2009
Interview
Interviewed with entire department on-site for a day. Was under-qualified, but they showed an interest. I got a call about 4 weeks later notifying me to 'keep my plate clean' for the next two weeks. They offered me a job (different, but similar as initial).
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smith+Nephew (Mansfield, MA)
Interview
Had a few phone calls with the potential manager, and went in for two in person interviews. The first was an interview with a couple other engineers in the group. A few days after, they brought me back in for another interview that lasted all day. Very extensive interview process, interviewed with many areas (marketing, HR, manufacturing, R&D). Everyone was very informative and helpful.

Question 1
In some cases, they wanted to see i had an organized thought process. In other cases, they would put you on the spot with a challenge they themselves were having and see what you would do. I had specific project related questions that some of the engineers were facing themselves. It is always good when you have examples of your past work to show if it is not confidential to your previous company.
