I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Spring Health (New York, NY) in Jul 2019
Interview
Spring is either scamming candidates to get ideas/work for free, or dropped the ball in the worst of ways.
I reached out through a referral and they asked me to apply online. Once I submitted some example code and writing, they asked me to answer some technical questions relating to a small data set. Weirdly (and this may have been a red flag) they said that I had been selected as a finalist for the role solely based on this and without ever having talked to anyone on the phone or in person. They had me sign an NDA and sent me another technical problem to solve, this time a with real business application. I submitted my work, they thanked me and said they were excited to meet me.
Then it got weird: after no communication for weeks, they apologized in an email and said the chief scientist (who was hiring for the role) had to leave the country for a personal matter, but that they would get back to me in a week. Two weeks went by before I finally reached out too him directly then to my referral contact. Neither ever replied.
What I take from this experience with Spring is either they wanted work done for free and were never really interested in hiring, or they were stringing me along for lack of organization or decency. Either way, Spring is very unprofessional and unethical.

Question 1
Tell me about a difficult experience at work and how you worked through it
Lengthy interview process but they are really trying to make sure they hire the right person. Started with one HR call, one technical, one hiring manager hour long conversation, another technical and then potentially two other conversations for culture fit (didn't make it to this step)
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Spring Health in Apr 2023
Interview
Straightforward process overall. Recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, technical screen (past experience on a technical project and some basic SQL), followed by a crossfunctional interview and finally with the head of data science. They'll ask for references as well, but that's not a certain indicator of an offer being made. It took 2-3 weeks between reference calls to rejection, which makes me suspect they were interviewing a handful of other candidates in parallel.

Question 1
Tell me about a past project you're proud of. Asked a question for which I needed to develop a dataset and then write hypothetical SQL queries against it.
