      SEO Manager Interview

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

I interviewed at Spyfu in May 2020

      Interview

This was a very odd interview. It was a weird interview process. I had to take a math test. It wasn't anything too hard it was just odd. Not sure what solving for X has to do with SEO. He said they give the test to everyone in order to see how they think and solve things. Sure...I was then given a 20 minute oral history on Google on rankings. During this time he would ask me basic SEO questions. It was almost as if I was being asked how SEO was conducted 15 years ago. Which really isn't relevant to today's strategy for SEO. At one point I had to stop him because we were going over the hour mark and I had other meetings. The real worst part of it all was the ghosting that occurred. I tried following up about the role but no matter how many emails I sent, I never heard back. This is incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL. Even if they were to pause the position because of Covid-19 or I wasn't what they were looking for, it takes no time to send some generic template email saying I didn't get the job. SpyFu is a tool I have used for years and was super excited to get the opportunity to interview for them. But after this experience, I doubt I will renew my subscription.
