I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at StepStone Group in Sep 2025
Interview
First round was with a senior analyst, which was very laid back. The actual interview lasted maybe 10 minutes then a conversation for another 35 minutes. After that you'll receive a written assessment(typically 1-2 days after), which is very easy but they want you to explain everything. Then 2 more rounds with more senior members of the team. Overall, not a lot of touch points and ran through HR. They don't do much direct investing if that is what you're looking for.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at StepStone Group (Baltimore, MD) in Oct 2025
Interview
Mostly behavioral, testing fit specifically with team within Stepstone. No hard technicals, but asked why you think secondaries is a growing industry. They seemed most focus on communication and interpersonal skills, however.
Several rounds of mostly behavioral interviews as well as a written assessment testing general finance knowledge. Towards the end I got more specific VC and market knowledge questions. Overall great experience.
