Unprofessional from start to finish. The process dragged on for 9 weeks, and despite boasting about their so-called “Sterling Standard,” there’s nothing standard about their interview or communication process—it was chaotic at best. The lack of organization paired with the worst communication I’ve ever experienced in a hiring process led me to withdraw my candidacy.
A week later, the recruiter reached out insisting I was their preferred choice and that a verbal offer would be coming Monday. By Friday? Silence. No communication from Sterling, no offer, just a third-party recruiter trying to patch things up.
What followed was the definition of petty. Instead of respecting my withdrawal, they pulled me back into the conversation only to waste more of my time and posture by “declining” me as if that would give them the upper hand.
Unprofessional doesn’t even begin to cover it. The leadership team should be embarrassed. In hindsight, I truly dodged a bullet.

Question 1
We realize this process has already dragged on forever with no clear communication and even though you withdrew, we’d like to string you along through yet another ‘final stage.’ Are you interested in spending a 10th week with us only for us to ghost you in a few days? Not because we ever intended to move forward, but simply because our egos were bruised when you had the nerve to withdraw yourself from consideration.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sterling Centrecorp in Mar 2025
Interview
The application process was easy and I had my first interview 2 weeks after I applied. 1 hour video interview - went well. A week later, I get a second interview with a Director. We spoke for over an hour - this person indicated how well the first interview had gone. And then...nothing. Sent two follow up emails, politely checking in on status of application & potential next steps. And just total ghosting.
If you person is willing to give your company 2+ hours of their time to speak with you - the least they deserve is not to be ghosted by your company.
