I recently interviewed for the Director of Client Events role at Strategic Wealth Designers and had an experience that was both disappointing and revealing. The Zoom interview included two individuals, yet only one of them spoke throughout the entire conversation, while the other remained silent.
The lead interviewer repeatedly referred to an entire department of employees as “The Girls” and described them as being full of “drama” due to their youth. I was stunned that a company leader would not only use such demeaning and infantilizing language but also openly express such a low opinion of her own team.
While I regret not addressing the inappropriate language in the moment, it was clear to me that this “family-like” culture was not one I wanted to be part of. My experience aligned with the numerous negative reviews about their company culture.
Additionally, I left the interview with a sense that I wasn’t the right “fit” for reasons beyond my qualifications. Prospective candidates should approach this company with caution.
