I went through 3 rounds of interviews and a 4th which was a presentation/interview with a panel. The prompt I was given was about how to improve their member sign-up process. They wrote down every recommendation I made and nodded in agreement during my presentation. The head guy even stayed 15 minutes after the interview to tell me more about the company, leading me to believe he thought I did well and maybe I’d get an offer. I heard from their recruiter a day or two later that their feedback was I didn’t have the depth of product management experience they needed, yet they sure seemed interested in my recommendations. And how does one assess a candidate’s “depth of experience” in a one hour presentation interview focused on such a specific prompt? It felt like they wanted free labor…
