I applied for Software Engineering Intern, Android (Summer 2022) on their career site. I got an online assessment first. I completed the online assessment and received their email for next round. The second round was a take-home assignment and they basically asked you to develop a mobile app based on certain requirements. They gave me a week to complete this assignment. I spent more than 20 hours as I tried to complete as many bonus points as possible. There were quite a few mis-alignments between the given online API and the task requirements so I had to ask them through email for confirmation. However they didn't seem to care about it and told me I can use my own judgements to deal with them. Again, they were quite irresponsive regarding the questions I had for them and only told me they received my assignment a whole week after I completed the assignment. Then after another week I got a system email saying I would not be chosen for the job. I somehow felt that I was fooled by them. I doubt if they really take a look at my code as they provided 0 feedback on this assignment and I now feel I basically wasted more than 20 hours on their poorly designed assignment. I wonder if it was only me or it was the same experience for other candidates. If it was the same for everyone, I would really recommend you do NOT apply for at least this position at Grammarly.
