      Quantitative Developer Interview

      May 8, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Teza Technologies (Austin, TX) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I applied through a recruiter. They sent me a coding challenge. After that, they asked for a video call, in which they asked me about my background and in the end they asked me to write a code through Codility framework for two relatively simple algorithmic questions. After that, they asked for another video call, which they repeat the same process, but more focus on the projects I was involved in. After this step, they invited me for an onsite interview at their office in Austin, TX. They didn't provide any facility, or reimbursement (only lunch and payment for parking). I went there, while the interview was scheduled like more than week before, they were not prepared at all, it was not even clear which people were supposed to do the interview. I had 5 sessions of interview with their engineers in different branches. Mostly talking about my experience, and solving questions related to algorithms and data structures. From talking to their engineers, it was very clear that the environment over there is not that healthy. Even one of the engineers implicitly told me they are not doing a fancy job at Teza. The The next day, according the hiring manager, the interview result was positive and they told me that they will let me know about their final decision. However, after a week, they asked me to talk with their CTO. Conversation with CTO was not technical, more focused on a regular day of my work. After this step, it took around two weeks for them to let me know that they don't have any position right now, which was weird, and seems to me not a honest answer. Why spending two months on interviewing when you don't have any spot. They told me to let them know if I had any job offer from any other companies, which I did but they again, told me the same thing. In general, besides the toxic atmosphere in their company as other people mentioned in their reviews, I didn't see their engineers overall very talented based on the level of questions they were asking me and their follow up questions. I really regret spending two months of my time with this company and as other mentioned there are much better companies with better performance out there. Don't waste your time with them.
